Welcome to IHS 2016!
Nikki Attwell & Anne Hill
Warmest greetings to all handbell musicians around the world!
It is our distinct and real pleasure to invite you to SOUNDINGS: Music of Our Lands and Our Lives, the 17th International Handbell Symposium, to be held July 26–30, 2016, in beautiful Vancouver, Canada.
Canada's rich aboriginal history and culture, combined with Vancouver's reputation for leadership in sustainability and environmentalism, has provided the ideal focus for this event. Honouring the ancestors of this land, including the aboriginal ways of knowing and being within an environment, has encouraged us to explore the many complementary ways that First Peoples cultures and environmental sustainability intertwine and connect within community. We look forward to other nations sharing the sounds of their lands and lives of their peoples at IHS 2016.
Surrounded by the mountains and located on the waterfront at Canada Place in the heart of beautiful downtown Vancouver, the Vancouver Convention Centre is an award-winning facility. Vancouver itself, one of the world's most beautiful cities, is ideally positioned to welcome visitors from the Pacific Rim countries, as well as being easily accessible from travel hubs the world over.
We encourage you to keep an eye on this website for further information regarding registration, accommodations, workshops and more, as it becomes available. Please share it as widely as you can.
We are so excited to showcase this fantastic city and what we know will be a fantastic event. Haven't you just been waiting for an invitation to come here?
